Strange times...

Things have been silly around these parts lately. Some of the strangest things have been going on, and due to the nature of these things I don't feel posting them on the web's such a great idea.

A couple of people have upset me over the last few days with regards to their treatment of others... I'm actually quite angry about it. Some people can be such fucking assholes.

I see mention of US Robotics in my little window below where I'm typing this, so I guess I might as well give an update on that... I returned the router to the store. I thought I'd give them one last try and exchange it for another unit. I really really like the design of the case and such... I dunno. Anyway, first thing I noticed with the replacement was a slip of paper that said the manual's incorrect; the two normally-green lights I had on mine that turned amber during a firmware update are now normally amber lights that turn green... well, cool. It's different than the one I had. I upgraded the firmware to the new one on the website and it's been working flawlessly ever since. Yay, USR, you redeemed yourselves.

On the other hand, between Sanyo and Bell Mobility, I can't get online through my phone reliably. As a result, I haven't been blogging from my cell in a while which accounts for the total lack of updates. Since I'm rarely on the PC, any PC time is used up doing PC specific things; things I can't do on the phone, so I don't get around these parts. Hopefully I can get things sorted out with that soon. They've sure taken their time returning my call... 24-48 hours my ass. What's it been, a week and a half?

I'm so tired... time for me to go.

Actually, today I was so tired that while I waited for a co-worker to go do something and bring some parts back, I rested my head and arms on the top of a skid that reached about chest high. It felt good. About 30 seconds after doing so, I fell asleep and was rudely awoken by an alarming falling sensation. I uh... well, I was falling. Good times.

Take care, peeps, talk to ya all later.

Random update

Hey gang. Been quite a while since I've blogged from my PC so I thought I'd give it a try.

First off, a new company to add to my shit-list. US Robotics. I bought a router from them. The router kept crashing. I emailed their tech support and got this wonderful piece of insight:
___

Dear Art,

Thank you for choosing U.S. Robotics.

We have noticed that when the router receives just enough wireless interference, the router will lock up and sometimes a power cycle is the only way to get the connection back immediately.
___

Seems like I'm getting "just enough" ALL THE FUCKING TIME.

Their solution:
___

Change the channels within the router utility from 11(default) to another that will work better in your environment. Our customers have found channels 1 and 6 work best, but it really depends on your area. Try them all and see which channel will work the most efficient.
___

So this router has crashed on every channel, and several times on some of them. I figure if there's a known issue like this that there'd be a "fix" at some point. They suggested upgrading my firmware. Which I did. And it still crashes.

When I got that email, I figured I'd mention that I'm running the latest firmware version and still having problems. In the middle of that call, my cell phone rang. It was my dad. Just calling to let me know that the router crashed. I finished up the call with him and returned to my email... when it came time to send it though, my phone's web browser crashed and lost the email. Funny thing is, the phone that crashed wasn't my phone. It was a newer model of Samsung's... a flip phone called the A460. This phone had been given to me by Bell as a loaner phone while MY phone, a Samsung N370 was in for repairs. Repairs to try and fix a problem I had with THAT FUCKING THING'S BROWSER CRASHING.

I gave up on the reply email for the afternoon and waited to get home to send my email from the computer.

I used my laptop, 'cuz someone else was using my PC, so I signed on to my email through webmail. It's like Hotmail or Yahoo in that it's web based and not like Outlook or whatever which resides on your computer. I did that 'cuz someone was using the PC, which is where I keep my email normally. Follow?

I typed out my email, again. Proofed it. Clicked send... Could not connect to site. Unnh? Seems as though the router crashed again just as I was going to send the email. I reset the router, and clicked my Back button to try and resend the message... but the way Webmail's set up it wouldn't let me view that page without a refresh... and a refresh would kill my email. Again.

What'd we learn from all this kids? That's right. Don't trust the Koreans, OR the Americans. What the hell was I thinking buying US Robotics equipment?

...sigh.

On a happier note, I was surfing along a while ago and came across this product. It has an adjustable sound control! I'm not sure what's funnier at that site, the fact that it's six inches of climax inducing hardware for $20, or the mention of Canadian Tire's gift registry above that product. Yeah, when I get married, I wanna pick my goodies up at the local Canadian Tire store. Heh, we're a nation of hicks.

Until next time...

So I'm outside of church... It's a half hour after mass started and people are still wandering in. I wonder where all these people of faith are on a regular Sunday when there're way fewer masses and plenty of empty seats. So many people "frontin'". Lots of people pimped out in their Sunday's Best... People should be this beautiful twenty-four/seven. Oh well... Happy Easter to any of my readers who celebrate it.

So I technically went to church today. Dropped my parents off across the street from the place and then proceeded to try and find parking. In a lot of a library and highschool over yonder. I eventually did, then thought I'd drop in to see how Jesus and his peeps were doing. Forget it. Never mind standing room only... I couldn't get in the place. Nice sunny day to be sitting outside and blogging! Wow. I have a feeling it's going to be a beautiful summer...

Heh... Two left turn lanes. I'm on the outside one. Light turns green, we turn... The guy on the inside turns into my lane. I honk. They continue into my lane. I continue to honk while swerving to avoid hitting the guy. As my dad and I pass the car, both of the people in that car are looking at us with a What's Your Problem gaze. I wish I had nowhere to be, a lead pipe, and a family member with a law firm...

Oh my god I'm feeling smashy. I'm waiting for my car to get rustproofed and there's a detuned fifty dollar ghettoblaster playing what could be the purest whiney country music ever recorded. If you read this today, approach me with extreme caution until at least mid-afternoon. Oh Jesus, it's a county countdown... Kill... Must kill...
